Sorting your wedding seating plan can be one of the most stressful planning tasks but fear not!  Today on the blog I’m sharing some inspiring advice to get you through with your sanity intact!

WHO SITS WHERE? //

For a traditional top table, the seating order from left to right as you view the table is: Maid of Honour/Chief Bridesmaid – Father of the Groom – Mother of the Bride – Groom – Bride – Father of the Bride – Mother of the Groom – Best Man.

TABLE FOR TWO? //

If you’re not so keen on the traditional top table option consider setting up an intimate sweetheart table for you and your beloved whilst asking your parents to each host a table of their friends or family.

CHILD-PROOF THE PLAN //

Seat guests with little ones nearer to the door for easy access to the bathroom or playroom. They can also make a discreet exit if the children become restless mid-way through the toasts.

RESPECT YOUR ELDERS //

assign frailer or elderly guests to the more accessible or spacious seats and close enough to the top table so that they can easily see and hear the speeches.

BOYS vs GIRLS //

Traditionally you would alternate males and females around each table but if this isn’t feasible, just aim for a good mix of guys and girls instead.

DON’T PLAY MATCHMAKER //

Don’t use your seating plan as an opportunity to try and set your single guests up with one another. No matter how subtle you think you’re being it will probably be obvious to them (and could be uber-awkward if it’s not a good match!)

CONSCIOUSLY COUPLED //

Avoid seating couples separately. If you have to because one of them is in the bridal party, make sure the other partner is sat with people they know.

IF IN DOUBT //

If you find yourself unsure about where to seat people then go with what will make your guests most comfortable. Relaxed guests have the most fun and that’s what it’s all about!

Love,
